SUGAR RIDGE ( next door, one minute walk) You cannot get any more convenient than their 2 restaurants right next door to Coco and being a 5* star Hotel quality is predictably good with extensive choice. Opposite reception is their Sugar Club which has a wide choice for lunch or evenings but also ‘special’ evenings when things like Fish, Steak, Caribbean etc are featured.
Up the steep hill (don’t worry a buggy will take you up from reception ) there is Carmichaels which is fine dining thus not cheap, but with stunning panoramic views over the whole area.

MIRACLES ( three minute walk ) just outside Hamilton Estate and by the entrance to Jolly Harbour. CASTAWAYS The favourite local beach restaurant. Great setting for people watching and sunsets, food good, staff friendly, extensive range of cocktails. Not always the quickest service but totally recommended

AL PORTO An Italian menu with pizza, pasta, fish steak etc. Upmarket and modern, but with sensible prices. It is in the best possible waterside setting at Jolly Harbour, overlooking the bay so also particularly great when sun sets. Difficult to fault in anyway and they also offer 2 for 1 pizzas on Tuesdays – very busy that so booking essential.

THE NEST Right at the far end of Valley Church beach and open from early to sunset. A simple wood beach restaurant / bar with food menu and serving drinks all day long. Busy when the cruise ships are in town and weekends, but often totally deserted midweek.

BENJAMINS In one of the best unspoilt elevated locations locally, overlooking two pristine bays and great views out to sea. You might be served by, have wine poured by and be cooked for by the very friendly talented Benjamin himself and you will not be disappointed. Quality is excellent with choice of dishes at reasonable prices – good wine list too. Incidentally being multi-talented he built the place too.

SHEER at Coco Bay resort is a very small cliffside restaurant with just 12 tables. Situated opposite Coco’s below , so with equally beautiful views plus homemade ice cream which is a must ! Evenings only and booking essential (562 2400)

GIBSON’S is a good quality ‘sand in your toes’ beach restaurant directly on the beach at the far end of Darkwood Beach ( about 10 minutes by car) Menu is varied and not expensive, plus there is a good selection of lunch snack in addition to full menu both lunch and dinner. Traditional English Sunday lunches are very popular.

OJ’S Just along from Gibsons and also worth a visit if you want to sit with views of the sea right on the beach. Steak and fish are both good, plus décor is well done with a nice atmosphere. Normally a bit of Jazz on Fridays and Saturdays. Small menu but well executed at sensible prices – professional and very recommended.
